Dear Alison,

On behalf of the team at Project Going Home I would like to take this opportunity to acknowledge our appreciation of your commitment to homeless youth. As you know Project Going Home has worked successfully with Second Base over the years. We have been able to assist a number of youth at Second Base in returning home to their community or origin. However, your efforts to assist youth in getting out of the shelter system by forming cohesive partnerships and creating innovative programming has made Second Base an outstanding support service to homeless youth in crisis. By affording us the opportunity to come to Second Base on a regular basis and meet with the youth we have seen and heard first hand from the youth about the difference you and your staff are making.

As we all know, change can be hard to implement and we have no doubt at times it has been a challenge with what may appear to be insurmountable hurdles to overcome. The social service community is small and therefore many are aware of the challenges you are facing. What is important for you to know is that your efforts are giving youth hope, something many of them had lost or never had. The types of supports and programs you offer are simply not available to these youth anywhere else or they must go to multiple locations, which is not a feasible option.

Although we as staff are impressed by what we see, we are more impressed by the changes we see in your clients. Their voices tell the story that now Second Base is the place to be if you want positive change. This must be evident to you as your shelter is as far as we can tell full to capacity that alone says a lot.

It is vital that you continue to develop and implement your vision for Second Base. Please accept our gratitude for allowing our service to be apart of Second Base programming and please let us know if there is anything we can do to support your endeavours.

With appreciation from the staff at Project Going Home.
